Sky Watch Friday - Alpena Pier

On a cold day in February I decided to walk out onto the pier in Alpena to take some photos of Lake Huron and the harbor area. It sure was cold and I definitely regretted not wearing a hat and gloves, but I did capture some great shots.

That's My World - Alpena

This is my third "That's My World" contribution. To see more "That's My World" photos from around the world, or to become involved and share your little part of the world, please click on the That's My World button above.

Alpena is a port city located on Thunder Bay, which is part of Lake Huron. Shown above is the Thunder Bay River. You can see that some teenage boys are enjoying a swim. Of course, I took these photos back in July, when it was still warm enough to swim there. The building you see in the background is used to manufacture wood paneling. Whenever you drive by here, you can smell the wood in the air.

This is where the Thunder Bay River empties into Lake Huron.

Not quite sure what this building is, but I thought the mural was neat. The building backs up to the Thunder Bay River.

This is the Alpena National Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office and is part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Midwest Region. Some of the things they do here include research and restoration of fish and wildlife habitat of the Great Lakes.

Sky Watch Friday

My first Sky Watch Friday...

They are in the process of painting a local water tower, so I caught these pics the other day while out running errands. Would you ever do this job? I don't think I would, no matter how much you paid me...

Alpena Harbor

I took a walk out on the pier in Alpena last week and took a bunch of shots. I will share more as time goes by, but this shot of the fueling station was my favorite. I love the way the lights reflect off of the water. I just wish I had Photoshop or PSP so I could erase those ugly power lines.

Alpena Friday Night Street Fair

After taking the kids to see Wall-E at the State Theater, we came out to find that the Alpena Street Fair had been set up while we were watching the movie.

The kids played in the bounce house, but my son hurt himself while he was in there. Fortunately it was just a little bump and nothing major.

Then my mom and I watched the live band play a few classic rock songs.

Dream Home

This house is located in a town nearby. Every time I drive by I tell my kids or whoever is with me that this house is my future home. I'm not exactly fond of the location (I would rather be in the country), but I absolutely adore the house.
