SkyWatch Friday - Strange Tree

Out exploring deserted beaches along the Lake Superior shoreline in the upper peninsula, I happened across this perculiar tree. I have never seen anything quite like it. Odd, wouldn't you say?

For all of my blogging friends who have left comments in the last week, I am sorry I haven't had time to respond or to swing by your blogs. My kids are off school for spring break and we have been prepping for a quick weekend getaway starting tomorrow. I will be back on track come Monday, so I will catch up with you all then. Thank you all so much for the very kind comments, they are highly appreciated.

What a unique photo! As a fellow Michigander I can say I have NEVER seen anything like that before! I did a quick scroll through your pics (I love to visit Frankenmuth) and become a follower of your blog!

Looking at how stressed the tree is otherwise, one onders at the wind blown air pollution levels that drift through the area. The tree is fighting for its life ans seems to have got a spurt of energy from somewhere...airborne fertillizer?

Lovely deformation on that three. I belive it's a genom mutation. I've seen the kind countless of times, it's along this local highway. Can't remember if it is pine or spurce. Here it's called tuulenpesä, tranlated strait foward windsnest. Happy SWF!
